The Vetting team are responsible for checking all our employees, apprentices and volunteers are eligible to work in the UK (temporary agency staff and interims are checked by their employing agency).
Scanned copies of original documentation will need to be provided with the originals being shown to managers on an employee’s first date.
Before they can start, candidates must be able to demonstrate they have the right to work in the UK.
The Vetting team will:
- carry out checks in line with Home Office guidance on all candidates who have been made a conditional offer
- ensure that all the documentation (including verification of the right to work and where required, visa sponsorship) is received and correct
- take copies of any original documents provided, verifying them to confirm the originals have been seen
Where a new ECC-sponsored employee fails to start their new job, the manager must contact the Safer Recruitment team immediately so that they can inform the Home Office. Failure to do so could result in ECC’s sponsorship licence being revoked.
We are unable to employ any candidate whose checks reveal that they are not permitted to work in the UK.
If you haven’t previously seen a temporary agency worker, you will need to see photographic proof of their identity to ensure the person is who they say they are.
