​All candidates are required to complete an online fitness to work declaration form as part of the recruitment process.

Occupational health assessments will be carried out by the Occupational Health team and offered to:

  • candidates who declare a medical condition they consider would impact on their ability to undertake the position and may require additional support (for example, reasonable adjustments)
  • candidates who, due to the physical demands of the job, require additional clearance

Any essential requirements of the post (for example, the need to lift heavy loads), should be documented on the job profile so that when advertising, potential candidates can assess whether they are able to perform the role.

Occupational health assessment comprises of  a screening form and may in certain circumstances lead to:

  • further medical investigation and/or assessment of physical wellbeing
  • any adjustments required to support the employee and ensure the safety of customers
