Access to Work equipment when leaving the council

When equipment has been provided as part of an adjustment, the expectation may be that the employee takes this with them if they need it to support their future job roles. There are some considerations that should be made on a case-by-case basis:

  • what type of kit is it – is it specialised or personalised?
  • how has it been funded? – has the cost been covered by a grant from Access to Work or through a service budget?
  • how old is the kit?
  • can it be easily transported or returned to site?

For all IT software and IT equipment, the employee or their manager needs to email TS.SmallChange@essex.gov.uk prior to leaving so Technology Services can amend their records. This is especially important if the software licence is held in our name instead of the employee's.

If you are an employed support worker or personal assistant for a disabled person, please email wellbeing@essex.gov.uk
