If an employee is leaving their role, you should meet with your employee create a handover plan.
Next, you should think about how you will cover their work once they are gone.
You could:
- recruit a replacement in the same role by following the guidance about hiring permanent, fixed term and temporary posts
- update their job profile and recruit to a similar role
- decide not to replace their role - where the role is no longer required, review the organisational structure and identify any missing skill gaps
- save costs by redistributing or stopping the work your leaver does, but consider the wellbeing of others and how the additional work will impact them
