Reorganisation and redundancy

If you’re affected by a reorganisation, you’ll have opportunities to learn about the proposed changes, ask questions, and provide feedback.

Pension options if you're made redundant

This information explains how redundancy may affect your workplace pension scheme.

If you are in the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)

If you are in the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), you will get a letter explaining your redundancy pay estimate and how redundancy will affect your pension.

The options available to you will depend on your age and your length of LGPS membership.

If you are aged 55 or over

If you are in the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), you will automatically start your LGPS pension. If this applies to you, you will usually receive information from the Pensions team within 4 weeks of receiving your estimate of redundancy from the Payroll team.

You will need to complete an EPF1a form and return it to the Essex Pension Fund. You can find the form on the pensions page.

If you hold another workplace pension

If you hold another workplace pension, you will get a letter explaining how to get more information.

You can contact your pension provider for information about how redundancy applies to your scheme.
