We are investing in renewing and modernising our systems.
What we have done
We have:
- moved most of our systems to the cloud
- redesigned our security infrastructure to better integrate security into our networks
- procured and setup a new contact centre solution to improve how we support residents and businesses
- established a ‘test and learn’ security operations centre (SOC) in 2022, with resources and services to monitor and respond to cyber incidents
All our employees use Microsoft 365 for collaborating and communicating. Managers use Oracle to oversee their resources.
What we are doing
Maintaining our technology is an ongoing task. This includes:
- procuring and implementing a new social care system to enable better social care for children and adults
- updating computers that employees use, so they meet current needs and are able to use the latest operating system, as part of being cyber-safer
- procuring a new managed network service, so that we have a modern and cyber-safer network to support new post-Covid ways of working for all and better use of our property estate
- reviewing, rationalising and consolidating system contracts, so it’s easier to adopt common standards, join up how we work and bring data together to make it easier to make evidence-based decisions
- finalising the business case for establishing a permanent SOC to protect our information and systems
How we will know we are successful
We will know that we have been successful when we have:
- children and adults in receipt of social care benefit from new ways of working
- rolled out new devices for all employees, the devices are managed, maintained and secured, and we have a refresh cycle in place
- completed the procurement and implementation of our new managed network service
- reduced the number of systems that we operate, for example consolidating key finance, HR and procurement systems to our enterprise Oracle platform
- created a permanent cyber team and best practice across the organisation to protect our information and systems
