Reorganisation and redundancy

If you’re affected by a reorganisation, you’ll have opportunities to learn about the proposed changes, ask questions, and provide feedback.

Overview

At times, our workplace undergoes changes that can impact our roles and the way we work.

These contractual changes might involve:

  • work patterns
  • work location
  • pay, grade, or other terms and conditions of service
  • adjusting the structure
  • changing the number of positions
  • redefining the nature of a job role and responsibilities or duties
  • a change of employer, such as through TUPE transfers

Reorganisation happens when changes are made to an existing structure of our organisation. This can mean changes to the way teams and roles are organised.

How it might affect you

If you’re affected by a reorganisation, you’ll have opportunities to learn about the proposed changes, ask questions, and provide feedback. Your individual experience matters, and your voice will be heard.

In some cases, a reorganisation may mean we need to make redundancies. This will happen if there are changes to the types or number of roles needed to do certain work.

The principles that we follow during restructures and redundancy consultations are to:

  • be clear, transparent, fair and equitable
  • make sure the right skills are in place for the future
  • mitigate redundancy where possible
  • value feedback from employees on the rationale for change
  • support employees through the change whether they stay or leave
  • consistently follow our policy which allows for a flexible approach that is appropriate to the circumstances
