Before booking a meeting room or venue, think about how you can reduce the climate impact. 

We offer advice on what to consider before booking a room or venue.

Recycling and reducing waste at work

We offer advice on easy changes you can make to reduce waste and increase recycling at work.

Business travel and commuting

Before you book your travel, think about whether your journey is necessary. We encourage you use virtual meetings, for example hybrid meetings using Microsoft Teams wherever possible to reduce your impact on the environment and minimise costs to the council.

When travelling for work or commuting to your workplace, choose the most sustainable mode of transport for your journey. Learn more about the available travel schemes and discounts

Climate action advice packs 

Reducing our carbon footprint is a challenge for us all. The Essex Climate Action Commission launched four climate action advice packs to help everyone in Essex act on climate change. 

There four packs are for: 

  • residents 
  • businesses 
  • schools 
  • early years or childcare settings  

The packs include a range of affordable, achievable and advantageous solutions and ideas to help us get to net-zero together. 

All four packs are available to download on the Essex Climate Action Commission website

Carbon Cutting Essex App 

Discover top tips and ideas on daily actions we can all take to reduce our carbon footprint. 

Essex County Council partnered with Greenredeem to launch a free Carbon Cutting Essex app.  

For every activity you complete, you’ll earn points. Use your points to enter prize draws, redeem personal rewards or donate to a charity of your choice.
