Environment is one of four key areas in Essex County Council’s 2021-2025 Everyone's Essex plan. The council has set a target of making Essex a net zero county by 2050.  

All of us play a part in reducing the carbon footprint of the council and the county.

Connect and collaborate with colleagues on climate action 

Join the Climate Network 

Tackle climate change as a community by joining the Climate Network. 

Membership is open to all employees who share an interest in climate action.  

Discuss climate advocacy with others from across council, take part in events, and learn more about climate change activities happening throughout the county. 

Environmental events 

The Environment and Climate Action communications team plans and attends many sustainable events each year, including a bi-annual Climate Summit.

Get help with being climate-friendly

The Environment and Climate Action communications team are always looking to connect with colleagues to discuss how they can help and support you or your department to make climate-friendly choices in your work lives and workplaces. 

You might be: 

  • interested in carbon literacy training for yourself or your team 
  • have an idea that could deliver significant environmental benefits within Essex 
  • have climate-friendly work already underway that they could amplify
