Overview

Mitie manage the waste collection by providing and emptying the bins at all of our buildings.

The recycling options below are for our main category 1 sites, including:

  • County Hall, Chelmsford
  • Essex Records Office, Chelmsford
  • Ely House, Basildon
  • Goodman House, Harlow
  • Rowan House, Colchester
  • Stanwell House, Colchester
  • 11 Freebourne Road, Witham

Pap​er

Includes: all paper (confidential or other) ​including envelopes, newspaper and magazines.

Bin type: grey paper consoles.

Mixed recycling

​Includes: plastic bottles, carrier bags, plastic food containers, cans, tins and cartons. Please clean all recycling from food or drink – a quick rinse will do!

​Bin type: green lidded recycling bins.

General waste

​Includes: sweet and crisp packets, tissues and napkins, tea and coffee cups (no lids), polystyrene products.

Bin type: black lidded general waste bins.

Printer cartridges 

​How to dispose: cardboard toner eco bi​ns are located around the building for spent cartridges to be placed in​. Once full, contact Mitie to request collection.

​Furniture 

Includes: broken furniture or furniture that's no longer needed.

How to dispose: contact Mitie (PDF, 139KB) with an expenditure code to arrange removal and disposal.

Electrical items

All electrical items are to be disposed of under the WEEE regulations.

Lamps and lights

How to dispose: contact Mitie (PDF, 139KB for the regional engineers to collect and dispose.

Large volumes of confidential and paper waste

How to dispose: ad-hoc collections for larger volumes of confidential and paper waste can be arranged. There is a cost attributed to ad-hoc collections. Contact Mitie with an expenditure code to arrange removal and disposal.
