What you can do at work and at home to support the council’s climate action.
We all have a vital role to play in transforming Essex to become net zero by 2050 and making sure that the organisation delivers our commitment to tackling the climate challenge.
We're helping employees and councillors gain more awareness of how climate change impacts Essex through our Carbon Literacy training.
You can sign up for Carbon Literacy training by going to My Learning and searching for ‘Carbon Literacy Certificate’.
The course includes four online learning modules, a carbon footprint calculator, a short documentary, and a facilitated 2-hour training session.
The training specifically focuses on climate change in Essex and how the county is affected.
Upon completing the training, individuals receive Carbon Literacy accreditation from the Carbon Literacy Project.
Across Essex County Council, hundreds of individuals have already received accreditation, resulting in the council being recognised as a Carbon Literate Organisation Bronze Award. The aim is for 1,000 individuals at the council to receive Carbon Literacy accreditation.
The training is part of Essex County Council's £200 million Climate Action Plan.
