Climate Network

The Climate Network is an engaged community of council employees who support, share and grow climate activities within the organisation.

The council is committed to ambitious climate action and is embedding this across every aspect of its service delivery.

The organisational strategy, Everybody’s Essex, dedicates one of its four objectives to creating a high quality environment for the county through various activities that contribute to net zero targets for 2050.

Climate change should be part of every conversation at work, and the members of the climate network will make this happen.

Join the climate network

You can join our Climate Network Teams site. Membership is open to all employees who share an interest in climate action.

As part of the network you will:

  • stay up to date on the latest climate-related news and reports, and climate campaigns within the council and externally
  • discover advocacy training and share advice with colleagues across the council to help implement change
  • share ideas that could be utilised elsewhere if not in your department
  • take part in volunteering opportunities, including outdoor events such as tree planting with the Essex Forest Initiative
  • get carbon literacy support, including access help to writing your pledges to receive accreditation from the Carbon Literacy Project (CLP) and actively deliver these
  • take part in virtual events, such as hearing exciting talks from dynamic internal and external speakers to discover more about climate change developments throughout the council, the county and beyond

Whether you are a climate guru or a climate novice, there is a wealth of growing resources that will appeal to everyone to help us contribute together to the council’s commitments to climate change.
