Behaviour outside of work and social media use
We are all responsible for our own behaviour while at work, any time we’re representing the council outside of the workplace and at any work-related event.
You are expected to be respectful and considerate of other people and individual differences. For more information, see the guidance on Equality, diversity and inclusion.
Managing inappropriate use of social media
If you put potentially offensive or inappropriate comments or images about or directed at colleagues, service users or customers on social media sites, we will take this seriously and investigate it in line with our Social media policy (PDF, 400KB).
Unwanted social media posts and trolling by third parties
Support is available if:
- offensive social media comments or images have been posted about you
- a third party (such as a service user or customer) identifies you on social media without your consent
- your account is targeted by “trolling” or other anti-social behaviour
If you're uncomfortable with the social media post:
- inform your line manager immediately
- see appendix one of the Social media policy (PDF, 400KB) for more information
