Sick pay and leave

You might need to take planned sick leave, for example to recover from an operation or manage a long-term health condition.   

Contact your manager as soon as you’re comfortable and tell them:  

• why you need to take long-term sick leave 
• the date you need to start sick leave 
• roughly how long you’ll need to take off
• how you'd like to keep in touch whilst you're off
• important deadlines or work commitments that may need rearranging 

Your manager might ask to see a letter from the healthcare professional who is treating you.  

Managers must record your sick leave start date in My Oracle.  When you return to work, your manager should log your sick leave end date in My Oracle.
