Physiotherapy and rehabilitation appointments

Planning time off to attend physiotherapy and rehabilitation appointments.

Examples of these types of appointments include:

  • a course of physiotherapy at pre-arranged times
  • a rehabilitation period to adjust to daily life following an accident

You should book some or all of these appointments outside your normal working hours or using flexible working where you can.

If this is not possible, for example if it would be difficult for you to make up the time during the working week, then you may be given paid time off for this.

Your manager should also consider whether paid time off would be a reasonable adjustment under the Equality Act 2010. They could also consider temporarily reducing your hours or changing your working pattern or place of work while you are receiving treatment.

Booking time off

Speak to your line manager as soon as you can if you need time off to attend an appointment.

Once agreed, this should be booked as ‘medical leave' in My Oracle.
