Blood donation

You may be given reasonable paid time off to donate blood.

Speak to your manager about taking time off. Once agreed, this leave should be booked as 'medical leave' in My Oracle.

Bone marrow donation

You may be given reasonable paid time off to donate bone marrow. You may be paid for up to 3 weeks, depending on medical advice.

This time off can be used for:

  • medical examinations before the donation
  • time in hospital
  • time to recover

Speak to your manager about taking time off. Once agreed, this leave should be booked as 'medical leave' in My Oracle.

If you cannot get paid time off for bone marrow donation

If you are unable to take paid time off for the procedure, you may be able to claim back reasonable expenses and loss of earnings through the Anthony Nolan charity.
