Time off for special constables

Take up to 12 days paid leave per year if you volunteer as a special constable.

You can take up to 12 days paid leave per year (no more than 1 day per month) if you volunteer as a special constable.

Special constables play a pivotal role in meeting some of our most important priorities and keeping the public safe.

In most cases, time off can be given at or around the time of any training or police working hours in recognition of your service to policing.

Booking time off

Speak to your line manager about taking time off in recognition of your work as a special constable.

Once agreed, you should book your time off in My Oracle under 'other paid leave'. Then choose the 'public body service' option.
