Time off for retained firefighter duties

Take up to 2 weeks' paid time off a year for your on-call firefighting duties.

If you are a retained firefighter, you can take up to 2 weeks' paid time off a year for your on-call firefighting duties.

Before you agree your fire service on-call dates and times, you should talk to your manager to plan your firefighting duties around the operational needs of the council.

Booking time off

Speak to your line manager about when you will be on-call or need to attend training.

Once agreed, you should book your time off in My Oracle under ‘other paid leave’. Then choose the ‘public body service’ option.
