Religious observance leave

You can ask for time off for religious observances such as festivals, prayers and fasting.

There is no automatic right to time off for religious observances such as festivals, prayers and fasting. However, managers should be supportive if you want to take time off for this reason and adapt your work pattern using workstyle personalisation, wherever it is reasonable to do so. Workstyle personalisation is our informal approach to flexibility arrangements that may be agreed with your manager to suit your individual circumstances.

Where this is not possible for business reasons, requests for formal flexible working, annual leave or unpaid time off should be considered and cannot be unreasonably refused.

Our equality and diversity in employment policy and guides include more information about your right to have your religion and belief respected at work.
