Shared parental leave

Share up to 50 weeks' leave with your partner in the first year after your child is born or adopted.

Shared parental in touch (SPLIT) days

You can work and be paid for up to 20 days during your shared parental leave (SPLIT). This is in addition to the 10 KIT days available during maternity and adoption leave.

SPLIT days are usually used to attend important training, key meetings or team activities. Working SPLIT days does not mean you can delay your shared parental leave return date by the number of SPLIT days you've worked.

Arranging SPLIT days

Contact your manager to discuss when you'll take your SPLIT days.

Recording and claiming SPLIT days

To get paid for SPLIT days, you must record the dates you've worked during shared parental leave in the Shared parental leave in touch day form (DOC, 77KB).

Send this form to your manager who should sign it and upload to the Assyst portal.

When you’ll get paid for SPLIT days

You’ll be paid for SPLIT days in your first salary payment when you return to work at the end of your shared parental leave.
