Shared parental in touch (SPLIT) days
You can work and be paid for up to 20 days during your shared parental leave (SPLIT).
SPLIT days are usually used to attend important training, key meetings or team activities. Working SPLIT days does not mean you can delay your shared parental leave return date by the number of SPLIT days you've worked.
You must not work at any other time during your shared parental leave, except on keeping in touch (KIT) days during your maternity or adoption leave.
Arranging SPLIT days
Contact your manager to discuss when you'll take your SPLIT days.
Recording and claiming SPLIT days
To get paid for your SPLIT days as and when you work them, you must submit a request on the Assyst portal after working a SPLIT day so your manager can process payment as soon as reasonably practical.
Alternatively, you can submit the Assyst portal request when you return from leave and your SPLIT days will all be paid to you in the next available pay period.
Any amount of work you do on a SPLIT day counts as one full SPLIT day, even if you work less hours than your usual working day.
You and your manager can use the SPLIT form (DOCX, 65KB) to record the number of SPLIT days worked to ensure that you do not exceed your entitlement.
