Buying technology, websites and software

You need to get approval before you buy technology goods or services including:

  • software applications 
  • technology subscriptions 
  • websites 
  • telephony 
  • services with technology component 
  • non-standard IT equipment (hardware), such as tablets 

You should raise a request on the Assyst portal, explaining what you would like to order and why. 

Hardware as such mice, headsets and cables 

If you need to order IT peripherals (hardware) you should use the pre-approved council supplier.

These items include:

  • mice
  • headphones and headsets
  • cables
  • speakers
  • monitors
  • risers

New starter technology set up 

If you need to order a laptop or PC or arrange access to a shared mailbox or drive for a new starter or an employee who has recently moved into your team, you should raise a request on the Assyst portal

Accessible IT equipment and software 

If you need to order specialist equipment, software or training due as part of a reasonable adjustment or because it was recommended by an Access to Work assessment, raise an accessible IT request on the Assyst portal
