Request changes to the intranet

How to add or update content on the intranet and publishing notices about service disruption or major incidents.

The intranet is managed by the Content Design team.

Updating intranet content

Use this form to ask for:

  • new content
  • changes to existing content
  • uploading documents to the website
  • alerts (website banner alerts) giving notice about service disruption or major incidents affecting all employees
  • content support from the Content Design team

 Start the request form

Content requests that are large, complex or impact other services will need approval from the Content Design team.

We will work with you to create accessible content that aligns with the council's style guide and content principles. This can involve:

  • meeting with you to discuss requirements for the webpage
  • writing new content for your page
  • editing content which you have already written
  • making necessary updates to existing pages

Internal news and blogs requests

Contact the Internal Communications team to request news articles, blogs or campaign promotion.

Alerts and important notices

Alerts (website banner alerts) are notices about service disruption or major incidents affecting all employees.

If you need to put an alert or important notice on the intranet:

  • Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, use the request form
  • outside standard working hours (urgent matters only), contact internal.comms@essex.gov.uk

We will not add an alert when:

  • a situation occurs that only impacts a small number of employees, a team or department
  • a technical system or phone line used by a small number of employees is not working
  • it is news or is not work-related, unless it impacts on employees carrying out their role

Documents and digital accessibility

Documents on the intranet should be accessible to all council employees, including those with disabilities.

For more guidance on accessibility, read our Digital accessibility information.

For peer support when creating digitally accessible services and information, join the Digital Accessibility Network (DAN) on Microsoft Teams.
