Steps you can take to improve your performance at work.
Improving performance is when your manager needs you to gain or develop the skills you need to do your job.

If you or your manager have a concern about your performance at work it's always best to talk about it right away. It could be that you're having 'one of those days' or there could be something you and your manager can work on together to resolve.
Many issues or concerns are identified early and resolved during the everyday parts of being at work. For improving performance this means things like:
We fully appreciate that when you're new to a job you may need support and coaching to gain or develop the skills you need. Your manager will be able to help you identify these during your one-to-one meetings. By discussing these with you, support and coaching options can be explored and put into practice.
Only when the first steps have not improved things will the formal procedure be started. Your manager will contact People Support to let them know the formal procedure is being started. Once your manager has made contact, People Support will share the detailed guides and letter templates with them.
The formal procedure can be started at any time and your manager will invite you to an improving performance meeting.
If you wish to appeal a hearing outcome the details of when this needs to be done by and who to send it to will be included in your hearing outcome letter.
