Right to work

How to check if a worker has a valid right to work within the UK.

To make sure a worker has a valid right to work within the UK, they must provide valid documentation during their interview or on their first day with Essex County Council.  A list of eligible documents can be found in the your right to work guide.

Any documents will need to be verified and a clear copy made in a format that cannot be edited. Copies will then need to be verified by the hiring manager and sent to the Compliance team (PDF, 125 KB)

Hiring managers can conduct a physical document check or perform an online check to establish a right to work.
