Mandatory training

Find out about our mandatory training including corporate governance, health and safety and budget holder training.

Corporate governance training

We currently have 7 corporate governance training courses. They have been developed to make sure we all understand our minimum statutory requirements as a local authority. All new joiners need to complete them within 6 weeks of joining.

These courses are:

  • Who we are and how we operate
  • How we behave
  • Equality and diversity
  • Information governance
  • Health and safety
  • Anti-bribery and money laundering
  • Anti-fraud and corruption

How to access corporate governance courses

Search for ‘corporate governance’ on My Learning.

All employees need to re-take the training every 2 years to keep up to date with any changes in legislation or policies.

You will be contacted via email or your preferred communication and assigned the training on My Learning. Training should be completed within three months of assignment.

An exemption process (PDF, 225KB) has been created to support those who are unable to complete the training or require a different learning method to understand the seven key areas.

Health and safety training

Everyone in an organisation requires adequate health and safety training. Training helps people gain the skills, knowledge and competence to carry out their work safely and without risk to their own health and others.

Budget holder training

If you are a budget holder, you should receive budget holder training to make sure you have the necessary skills and knowledge required to understand and perform your budget holder responsibilities to the standards set by the council.
