Cyber security policy

The cyber security policy tells you the rules and guidelines to follow to protect our information and services from cyber-attacks and threats.

Everyone working for the council should follow the Cyber security policy (PDF, 284KB)

This policy works together with the council's code of conduct, Information policy booklet (PDF, 1MB) and Cyber security strategy.

Who this policy is for

This policy is for anyone who uses technology for Essex County Council business purposes, including:

  • keep the council and employees compliant with the industry's best practices, laws and regulations
  • lower the chances of attacks happening
  • prevent unauthorised access or misuse of our technology and information
