Workforce Ambassadors

The role of Workforce Ambassadors and how to get involved.

Workforce Ambassadors are employees who really want to make a difference at Essex County Council. They are curious about the way we do things and how they could be improved, as well as enthusiastic and positive. They have a creative approach to problem-solving.

Workforce Ambassadors are employee representatives within their own functions, who get involved with organisational projects, provide support to their teams and have their voices heard in a way that can really make a difference.

Role of Workforce Ambassadors

The role of the Workforce Ambassador involves:

  • listening to colleagues, identifying the 'hot topics' and understanding their issues, and bringing these for discussion and resolution to the Workforce Ambassador group meetings
  • engaging in cross-cutting organisational projects and being a voice for colleagues in the function
  • being a positive advocate and champion for workforce initiatives, including those related to culture, wellbeing, ways of working, and more
  • gathering feedback on how the workforce is feeling (temperature check)
  • organising activities to support and enthuse the workforce
  • being a two-way conduit for communication between the workforce and strategic priorities
